About Us

La Mallorquina, born from humble beginnings, has blossomed into an illustrious and celebrated establishment, proudly holding the distinction of being both an award-winning restaurant and the oldest in the entire city. Its remarkable journey is a testament to resilience, passion, and an unwavering commitment to culinary excellence.

The Story behind La Mallorquina..

Established in 1848, La Mallorquina stands as a renowned restaurant in San Juan, Puerto Rico, renowned for its mastery in crafting Puerto Rican and Spanish delicacies. Palma de Mallorca's culinary heritage takes center stage, with delectable offerings like asopao, gazpacho, arroz con pollo, paella, and flan gracing the menu. The restaurant's original proprietors, including Antonio Vidal Llinás, traced their roots back to Palma de Mallorca, Spain, which inspired the choice of the name "La Mallorquina," signifying "the woman of Mallorca" in English. Throughout its rich history, the establishment has welcomed esteemed guests, including the first elected governor of Puerto Rico, Luis Muñoz Marín.

What Our Customers Say..

Jackie Lugo

Such a treat to eat at the oldest restaurant in Puerto Rico in an authentic location with a great vibe, tasty cuisine and great staff. I tried the mofongo, which is a traditional Puerto Rican dish, and opted for the cassava. It was so delicious. Eager to recommend and come back again!

Jeremy Keesee

I'm very pleased with our experience at La Mallorquina last night. Little did we know it’s the oldest restaurant in Old San Juan and our friendly server gave us a little background info before taking our order. The vibe was nice for a late dinner: low light, white linen, live music and excellent food. We enjoyed everything we ordered. I’m not much of a ceviche guy but La Mallorquina made me a believer. If we ever make another trip to PR we’re definitely coming back

Carla Schuyler

Delicious food and great service by Gian today. Everything I saw presented to others looked amazing too. Nice atmosphere and not too crowded. Daily special was a great value with a ton of delicious food!
